NOT to export nested families as a separate elements from Revit

There is a function in general settings of Plug-In for Revit: Export nested families as a separate elements. But it doesn't work, when untick it still export export nested families as a separate elements.

Please, fix it and add the same function to Plug-In for Navisworks and Microstation.

Thanks for submitting the idea. The option "Export nested families as separate elements" option does work, but it works only for nested families. If you are working with system families and assigned user profile to those system families, no, it would not work as it is a separate feature.

The option "Exported nested families as separate elements" may be renamed to the following and behaviors as follows:

    1. Export nested components under host family

      1. when unchecked, nested components will be exported to its own category, family and type.

      2. when checked, nested components will be exported to category/ family/ type of the element/ family its nested under. All elements are still separate entities, and they can be individually selected and UFs are at the individual 3D in 4D Pro. The only difference is that it will be under its host family.

    2. Add a new option which allows to merge nested components when "Export nested components under host family" is on:

      1. nested compents would be merged to the (parent) component from the host family. The components from nested families would no longer be separate 3D entities in Pro. And the UFs and UFVs for the individual nested components would be lost as now they don't have their own entities.

These are for you info and the finally implementation may vary from what's proposed here. Any feedback or question you can reach out to me directly at jacqueline.chen@bentley.com. I am happy to discuss via email or over a call.
