Synchro Modeler idea: Generating surfaces from Work Areas in Synchro Modeler

Hi Synchro team,

We are running a pilot on a road and bridge project with Synchro 4D Pro including Control, Modeler and Synchro 4D Pro. The designers are currently working on both the road and civil design. We would like to start scheduling and simulating with phasings in 4D while the 3D models are not ready yet.

We came up with the following idea:

The designers could have the road alignment ready in an early phase. We could then create a new Synchro Control Project with an iModel and import just the alignments. We could start thinking about the work areas and phasings and setup the work areas in Synchro Modeler (see attached image 1).

Then we would like to use these Work Areas in Synchro 4D Pro to schedule and simulate with different scenario's. The Work Areas are already visible in Synchro 4D Pro as lines. These lines can be assigned to tasks to start simulating (see attached image 2). The color and growth appearance that is setup in the Appearance Profile is logically only visible in the lines.

It would be very valuable to us if these work "areas" could get a real surface that we can visualise with different Appearance Profiles. Then we could start scheduling and discussing the best method for the phasings before the 3D models are even ready. When the 3D models are ready we have defined the exact work areas and can start 4D scheduling immediatly.

Is this already on the development roadmap? or is this something that could be considered?

Best regards,
Stephan Klotz
