Add selection tool (draw rectangular)for statusing

Requested by Patryk Makowski <p.makowski@cmteam.net>

Please add selection tool (like "By rectangular") to enable selecting/unselecting multiple elements at once, without selecting them all, while we're in statusing mode. They want to upt status once a week, there will be multiple items under one task, they don't want to pick 20 columns or 150 steel elements manually)

    Hello Daria,

Many thanks for your reply and for the clarification. I have re-opened the Idea and set it to "Under Review".

I am going to schedule a call with you to discuss the above, I'll get some time in your calendar.

    All the best,

    Luke

Please see screens from Field - how "Select all" button works and what is the situation (this is a sample model, real life models are much more complex and have much more objects)

    Hi Luke,

Please re-open the idea. This capability does not exit.

I wrote "Please add selection tool (like "By rectangular") to enable selecting/unselecting multiple elements at once, without selecting them all"

Current tool enable selecting only ALL elements ("Select all" button), or ONE element (tapping).

Users need the ability to select multiple elements, but not all of them.

Please imagine a steel construction - beams and columns. It belong to the task "Steel Structure Area C". Some part of the steel structure which belong to this task is ready, some is welded, some is not ready.

Now the user needs to select each element individually and steel structure has thousands of elements (joints, plates, bracing). It would take an hour to do so, they will not use Field.

This apply not only to this particular user - it apply to all Synchro users which need to report progress for steel structure, concrete columns, HVAC systems, all cases, where multiple elements are assigned to one task, but they might have different statuses.

If the user could draw a rectangle or a shape and select elements within it (something like the selection tool in the iModel viewer), they could use Field for statusing.

Right now it could be used only in very specific cases (few elements assigned to one task, or all of them have the same status).

    Hello Daria,

Many thanks for posting your Idea and apologies for the delayed response. As per a recent release of SYNCHRO Field, a user has the ability to select a Task and then use the "Select All" button to highlight all of the model objects that need to be progressed.

As this is the case, I will close out this Idea but please feel free to contact us again with any future feature requests.

    Many thanks,

    Luke

It would be great to have fence selection option during Status Update as selecting 3D objects individually can be quite tedious.
