The default format of setting up a cost code configuration to attach to a model is too rigid. It is almost impossible to determine which codes will need to be incorporated for a design build project model. As designers update models more codes will be developed and there will be multiple people from the Contractor's side working in the model to identify codes. If an estimator of field engineer has the capability to add codes within the cost code tree view inside of SYNCHRO modeler it reduces the time for the one person responsible in updating the cost code configuration. Other programs have this capability such as Agtek and HeavyBid. After allowing users within Modeler add codes you will also have to provide the ability to export the current cost code configuration out of the Control site for QC work.
